When you’re born and bred in Hatteras, you learn to fish before you start school. And if you’re family goes back more than 5 generations, like Captain Spurgeon Stowe’s, fishing is in your blood. He hails from a series of commercial fisherman and charter boat captains on Hatteras Island, and Captain Stowe was on a boat nearly from the moment he could walk.
Captain Stowe knows the waters around the Outer Banks the way most people know their way to the neighborhood grocery store. He knows where the fish are and how to catch them. But after spending nearly five decades of his life as a boat captain, you’d expect that. Captain Stowe spent years as a charter boat captain before buying the Miss Hatteras 30 years ago, and he still does commercial fishing in the winter. Only Neptune knows the waters off Hatteras better, and that’s debatable.
Now Captain Stowe runs the Miss Hatteras and Cap’n Clam offshore and in the sound, taking locals and tourists alike out to catch their bounty of fish every day of the week. With full and half day trips, as well as private charters, if you want to go Gulf Stream fishing or just do some sound or offshore fishing, Captain Stowe will bring you back with your limit. He also holds kid’s parties and dolphin cruises for the family to spend time together on the water. Fill out the form on the page to contact Captain Stowe and learn to catch fish like a local!

Captain Stowe, I will be traveling to the Outer Banks July 21st, 2012. I was recommended to you by the Tyler brothers from southern New Jersey. They had nothing but great things to say and mentioned that I should tell you that they referenced me. Could you please send me an email that can give me an idea of what to expect, what you charge, etc. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
